Bought this netbook just under a month ago with the 800mhz ram upgrade. Had read somewhere that it wouldn't work which I believe was on newegg but this was after i ordered. Popped the ram in in under 5 minutes, only one phillips head screw to undo, and booted up the machine then restarted. Recognized the ram immediately and there is a definate speed performance as I used the computer for about 4 days before doing this upgrade. Wasn't terrible before but to run more than one window at a time caused a slow down whereas now I regularly run internet explorer and office 2007 at the same time with no noticeable slowdown.
Crucial Technology CT25664AC800 2GB 200-pin SODIMM DDR2 PC2-6400 Memory Module is the ram that I bought.

Great netbook, keyboard is not flimsy and the only problem I had was when I do question marks since I always used the right shift key to do it and since it is a smaller size took me about 5 days to get used to otherwise I am able to type long documents with hardly any issues even though my hands are definately larger than average. 5 stars across the board but it does come with a little bit of pointless software that I was able to remove in under an hour. Fast internet, great hotkeys, and the battery life is phenomenal as long as you aren't trying to run a lot of programs at once and can turn the performance down on the fly with the spacebar. Lasted 8 hours on the highest setting with just IE running and easily over 12(didn't feel like letting it sit longer off the charger since I was going to bed and needed it in the morning) but the meter said it has another 45 left so take that however you want. Very quiet fans as well and the screen tilts back plenty.
Will buy from asus and amazon again. saved 20 dollars total by buying from amazon instead of newegg but newegg does usually have faster shipping except you have to pay for it which would cause a greater price disparity.
